To BISON cheerleaders and families:

We’ve had a successful end of the 2012-2013 school year.  The pep assembly was a huge success, and it was fun to see the student body’s reaction to our new additions… the male cheerleaders. I have enjoyed working with all of you so far this spring and look forward to catching up with you this summer. Don’t forget to view the website at gfhscheer.weebly.com to view pictures and receive updated information.

You should have already received your cheer DVDs and cheer sheets. Please begin learning your cheers ASAP. Learn three each day, and it won’t seem so overwhelming. I’d like to get many of these cheers checked off in our July practices in order to spend our August dates working on Big Blue Day, the first day pep assembly, and Homecoming. They will all come quickly at the beginning of the year, and we’ll have much to do.

Cheerleading takes stamina, coordination, and strength. If you are not working out, lifting weights, conditioning… doing something to improve your athleticism, please do. This could include working out at your gym, the high school, or the recreation center. If these are not options for you, create your own routine of running/walking and strength-building exercises. There are many fantastic workout DVDs out there. Think about getting together with a few other cheerleaders to make this happen. Also, don’t forget that what you eat counts. Choose healthy options.

I have changed the dates of the car washes in July and August to the following new dates:

·         Friday, July 19, at Prolube by DQ; 11-4

·         Friday, August 16, at Prolube by DQ; 11-4

Eighth graders, you’ll move through orientation with the other freshmen; however, we might have you excused for part of it. I’m sure you will want to participate in the pep assembly. “Are there any BISON in the house?”)

As a reminder, please make good choices this summer. I want to see all of you back on the GFHS Cheerleading Squad this fall. Have an awesome June, and I’ll see you when I get back in July.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Baroch                                  GFHS Cheerleading: We show Bison Pride in all we do!
